This is the sixth version of the Hornby model of former London & South Western Railway Class M7 tank. The model arrived last year and this is the fourth in BR lined black livery. This time it is in pristine (ex-works) condition and with late totems. It has the shorter footplate and no push-pull equipment. The model comes with plenty of detail to add (not shown in our picture). The problem with any model of a 0-4-4 tank engine is to get sufficient weight up the front end of the locomotive and over the driving wheels to give it sufficient pulling power.
The model is based on '30023' which started life in January 1899 as LSWR No.23. It carried this number in Southern Railway livery and went on to serve British Railways for 14 more years, being withdrawn from service in October 1961
