Hornby Jinty 0-6-0TsJinty LMS 7412 R2658.JPG (34530 bytes)

The Jinty was the icon of Tri-ang Railways being the first locomotive the company tooled up, in 1953, after Rovex joined the Tri-ang Group. The original model sold in its hundreds of thousands before being replaced by the current model in 1978. 15 years ago the model was dropped from the Hornby catalogue and reappeared recently after Bachmann launched their highly detailed model. The initial batch of reissued Hornby models could not be released due to a manufacturing error but that is now in the past and the latest two releases are here. What a difference modern printing makes to some of the older models!

R2658 is in LMS plain black livery with the lettering and numbers in gold with red shading. The characters are with serifs and this dates from the period 1928 to 1947.

R2657 is in BR plain black with small late decals. It has no warning flashes and so dates from the late 1950s to the early 1960s.
