Hornby GWR Brake Coach R4292Collett Brake GWR 5121.jpg (50218 bytes)

With the pending release of super-detailed Maunsell coaches, the GWR will be the only one of the 'Big Four' not to have high quality coaches produced by Hornby. Modellers and collectors are therefore expecting this gap to be filled in the next two years. The current Hornby GWR 'general' mainline coach models were introduced in 1977 and appear to be based on Collett designs. As Bachmann already model a more accurate Collett coach range it is thought likely that Hornby will be looking at Hawksworth coaches for their replacements. Indeed, Hawksworth coaches came over-all 7th in our recent poll of most wanted models. For now, Hornby persist with their 1977 models and have released the brake 3rd as '5121' in GWR chocolate and cream with 'shirtbutton' insignia.
