Each year, since 1992, Hornby have produced one of their standard range of wagons with their own name on it and the year of issue. Until now, a different wagon type has been used every year but this year the ex-Airfix 9-plank wagon has been chosen. This had been used in 2002. Also, for the first time, the wagon has been given a number besides the year. This one is numbered 'SC50' and also has its loading weight shown as '20T'. For a few years between 1998 and 2003, Hornby abandoned the red livery for these wagons. Under advice from collectors, they returned to a red livery in 2004.
