Hornby Rebuilt BB Sir Keith Park R2586BB Sir Keith Park.JPG (60740 bytes)

Much has already been said about the high modelling standard of these rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific models (see 'Plymouth') and so let us look at the real locomotive on which the model is based.

34053 'Sir Keith Park' was one of 17 Battle of Britain Class locomotives to be rebuilt by British Railways at their Eastleigh works. Built in January 1947, it briefly carried Malachite green livery and was rebuilt in November 1958. It remained in service for a further 7 years before being withdrawn. Fortunately it was sold to Woodhams at Barry where for 18 years and 3 months it stood rusting in the salt laden air until bought for preservation.

This was the last of the four initial Rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific models released by Hornby arriving as it did in February 2007. Our picture shows the model without the brake rods, cylinder drain cocks, artificial front coupling and back plate and front steps fitted.
